Dirty Three's unique sound glides from lullaby to catharsis to full-on sensory assault... taking in all the spaces and colours in between. Dirty Three are exceptional in many respects: an instrumental, violin-led trio who are lauded by the music intelligentsia but who also embody the primitive appeal of rock'n'roll unlike any other band...

The Dirty Three are Warren Ellis, Mick Turned and Jim White. Formed in Melbourne, Australia in 1991, they have released 7 studio albums, one soundtrack, and several collaborations. Dirty Three's music has been called lyrical, passionate, original, inspiring, and has earned them admiration and renown across the globe. Each member performs in groups outside the band, Warren Ellis has been with Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds for more than ten years and is a member of Grinderman. Jim White has played on recordings by Smog, Cat Power and Bonnie Prince Billy. Mick Turner has become established as an artist in his own right and has released several solo recordings and holds regular exhibitions of his artwork. Currently living on three different continents, they curated All Tomorrow's Parties in England in 2007.
